Our Story
Solarize Window Insulators started with a simple idea: there had to be a better way to keep Maine homes warm without spending a fortune on heating or dealing with fussy plastic window film.
Our founder, Phillip McKinnis, a Mainer since 2004 with a background in sustainable home design, knew the challenges of drafty windows all too well. After years of experimenting, testing, and plenty of trial and error through cold Maine winters, Phillip developed the first Solarize Insulating Shade — a reusable, easy-to-install product that truly works.
What began in Phillip’s garage has grown into a Maine business dedicated to helping families across the state stay cozy, save money, and live more sustainably — one window at a time.
